  • What is a standalone fridge?

    A standalone fridge is simply another name for a freestanding fridge – one that isn’t built into or hidden behind your kitchen cabinetry. Unlike integrated models, standalone fridges are self-contained units that can be positioned anywhere with sufficient space and ventilation. They’re versatile, easy to install, and come in a wide range of sizes and styles, from compact mini fridges to large, full-height models. If you ever move home or redesign your kitchen, a standalone fridge can simply come with you.

  • Do freestanding fridges need ventilation?

    Yes – like all fridges, freestanding models need adequate ventilation to operate safely and efficiently. The compressor and condenser generate heat as they run, and that heat needs somewhere to escape. Most freestanding fridges require a small gap at the sides, top, and back to allow for airflow. As a rule of thumb, check the manufacturer’s guidelines for your specific model, but leaving at least a few centimetres of clearance on all sides is best practice. Positioning your fridge in an enclosed space without ventilation can cause it to overheat, reduce its efficiency, and shorten its lifespan.
