Freestanding Cookers FAQs

  • Are freestanding cookers better than integrated?

It’s not necessarily a case of whether a freestanding or integrated appliance is ‘better’ – it all depends on your needs.

Freestanding cookers are ideal if you want more of a unique, retro look or are looking for an appliance with total flexibility. As they simply slide into place, if you change your kitchen, need an upgrade, or move house, your cooker can move with you.

If you prefer a sleek finish, an integrated model creates just that. Integrated cookers or ovens are fitted flush into your cabinetry, creating a uniform look that suits contemporary kitchens perfectly. It really comes down to how you prefer your kitchen to look and function.

  • Can I install my own electric cooker?

No – full-size electric cookers need hard wiring, usually to a dedicated circuit. To ensure your safety (and to keep your warranty intact!), installation of electric cookers must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

  • Can I plug an electric cooker into a normal socket?

No, you shouldn’t plug an electric cooker into a normal socket, as most full-size electric cookers draw too much power for a standard plug. This is why cookers need a dedicated circuit and professional installation.

Many smaller options – like our table top ovens – are designed to be portable. If you’re looking for an appliance you can plug in, check out our table top appliance range.

  • Which freestanding cooker should I buy?

It totally depends on what you need! We have a range of cookers, from single to double, with different hob options and capabilities. A double cooker means you can bake and grill at the same time, while a single cooker is better suited to a smaller space. Think about your kitchen, budget, and cooking habits to find the perfect cooker for your needs.
